|
You say Tomato, I say Tomoto, but we all agree that they can be very tasty! Edible is a fun catch word that we have started to use at here at the gardens. We use it to define plants that have edible parts. Such as Tomatoes- edible fruit, but don’t eat the leaves as they are inedible. Pansies are a tasty garnish on a salad, Peppers are an edible fruit- be careful when eating the hot ones! Hemerocallis, day lily, has edible flowers and roots. Other edible flowers include: Bachelor's Button, Calendula, Carthamus, Dianthus, Hollyhock, Hyacinth Bean, Marigold, Monarda, Nasturtium, Salvia, Scarlet Runner Bean, Bean, Sunflowers and Violas. You get the picture.
